School District 8 - Employment
The
first step in gaining full time employment within School District 8 is
to apply for placement on our Casual lists, or as a Supply Teacher.
To

the words Application or Resume in the
Subject line.
School
District 8 has Casual lists for day to day replacement of Custodians,
Secretaries, Teacher Assistants, Student Attendants, and School Bus
Drivers. If you are interested in placement on this list, we will require a
completed application form, or resume, and if you are hired a
Criminal Record Check must also be supplied. Interviews for
placement on our casual lists are held 2-3 times yearly. Should you be a
successful candidate for a Casual School Bus Driving position, we will also
require you to complete a 1-week
driver-training course, which the School District provides.
To be
considered for Supply Teaching in School District 8 you must qualify in one
of the following manners:
If
you currently hold a minimum of a Bachelor of Education Degree and a
Province of New Brunswick Teacher's Certificate IV:
Provide the Human Resources Department with a complete resume, a copy of your
University Transcripts, a certified original copy of your Teacher's
Certificate. You will be contacted for an interview and upon successful
completion you will be provided with a Criminal Record Check Form. When we
have received and approved your Criminal Record Check your name will be
placed on the Supply Teacher Booking System. You will also be eligible to
apply for any Long-term Supply positions that are advertised within our
school district.
If
you currently hold a Province of New Brunswick Teacher's Certificate I, II,
or III or a valid New Brunswick Teacher's License:
Provide the Human Resources Department with a complete resume, a copy of
your University Transcripts, a certified original copy of your Teacher's
Certificate. You will be contacted for an interview and upon successful
completion you will be provided with a Criminal Record Check Form. When we
have received and approved your Criminal Record Check your name will be
placed on the Supply Teacher Booking System. You will not be eligible to apply
for any Long-term Supply positions that are advertised within our school
district until such time that all eligible supply teachers have been
considered.
If
you currently do not hold a valid teaching certificate:
Provide the Human Resources Department with a complete resume, a copy of
your University Transcripts. At the present time we will only consider
those applicants who have completed a degree at an accredited
College/University. If you qualify, you will be contacted for an interview
and upon successful completion you will be provided with a Criminal Record
Check Form, and an application for a Local Permit, which currently has a
filing fee of $20.00. We can only accept Money Orders made payable to the
Minister of Finance, and these money orders must accompany your completed
application for the Local Permit. When we have received and approved your
Criminal Record Check your application for a Local Permit will be forwarded
to the Department of Education, Teacher Certification Branch for
authorization. When this authorization is received, your name will be
placed on the Supply Teacher Booking System. You will not be eligible to
apply for any Long-term Supply positions that are advertised within our
school district. Please note that authorized Local Permits are valid only
in the school year in which they are issued.
Please
note: If
you currently hold a valid teaching certificate from outside of the
Province of New Brunswick, you must contact the Teacher Certification
Branch of the Department of Education to have your certificate certified
within New Brunswick. The mailing address is:

PLEASE NOTE: All applications must include a complete resume and a copy of your University or College Transcripts. Any applications or transcripts received after the Application Deadline will be held until the next round of interviews.
If selected by the interview committee, successful candidates will be required to attend a Supply Teacher Orientation which will be held approximately 3 weeks following the interview. Candidates will be contacted by phone with instructions regarding the Orientation date and time and any information that they will be required to provide to complete hiring process.
