Welcome to School District 8, a school district committed to providing an environment where students may reach their potential as life long learners and productive citizens.

The administrative model in School District 8 is based on teamwork. The elected District Education Council, the district administrative staff, school administrators, instructional staff, and support personnel work collaboratively to reach our common goal of educational excellence.

Curriculum delivery, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities, and enrichment programs are designed and delivered in keeping with our commitment to the development of the whole child.

Building and maintaining strong links with our community through effective communication and partnerships is essential in providing a variety of learning experiences for all our students.

Mission Statement:

Given clearly defined and high expectations, all children can and want to learn.

The Mission of School District 8 is to provide, responsibly and cooperatively, all students with the opportunity for learning, to a measurable standard, through quality instruction in a safe environment.

District Education Council

The District Education Council is a local decision-making council, which includes 13 elected members of the communities that comprise District 8. Members are publicly elected in conjunction with municipal elections. As a body corporate, each DEC has been given certain rights and responsibilities under the Education Act enabling it to play a vital role in the delivery and quality of education.

Parent School Support Committees

The Parent School Support Committee (PSSC) is a school community group having an advisory relationship with the school principal. Each PSSC is a 6-12 member committee with the majority of the members being parents who are elected at a school election in September. One teacher is also elected by the school staff to sit on the committee, as well as a Home and School representative, a student, and any community members the committee wishes to appoint. The Parent School Support Committee is a three year term of office for parent members and a one year term of office for other members.
